Hi guys, my Trachy began losing tissue over a week ago and showing alot of skeleton. I did do a 20% water change but my water were pre-mixed and at the right salinity. Not sure if I rushed too quickly and it had some effect for the recession. Any help to save the coral please? I also turned the bottom of the coral and there is alot of what I think is copepods. Is an iodine dip needed?

Sorry for all the questions,
Much appreciated

Hate to say it but it’s almost impossible to bring back after this I’ve had same thing happen to my rainbow. My brothers died same thing last week can try moving to low flow low light iodine dip and if mouth is still present feed. Good luck

How long have you had it? Where is it positioned in the tank? A picture in white lights will help too, I can't tell if the purple part is purple flesh or white bone.

Yes it is really bad, I did have a rainbow too a few years back which lost some skeleton but I brought it back through a WC unfortunately I lost it due to an algae outbreak which I overdosed on some liquid based solution.

Thanks

The coral has been in my tank for about 2 months, no everything was perfect when I got it as you can see from this photo in my tank when it was all plumbed up.

As for parameters,
Ammonia- 0
Nitrite-0
Nitrate-15ppm

Lighting is mostly Royal Blue,Blue and UV, with up to 10% light which I slowly ramp up and back down to the end of the cycle.
Flow is maybe medium/high about 800lph

Thanks :)

I have had it for about 2 months, it is positioned right in the bottom. There is no sand at the bottom and have also put on whites just to show how bad it is.
Also ordered a cover that has holes so will try feeding it and stop the flow from moving it
Thanks 🙏

Skeleton is very clean for a coral that has been declining and receding for over a weeks time. Makes me wonder about your other parameters and nutrients. Usually see algae growing on exposed skeleton. Corals use the same nutrients, N, P etc that algae uses to grow. If your not seeing algae growth then that may indicate corals are not getting enough nutrients too.

Don't bother testing for ammonia and nitrite. There is not much point in a reef tank. PO4?

There might be slight bit of algae on the skeleton, ok will stop testing for ammonia and nitrite. P04 is about 0.2 using salifert test kit.

Cheers
