Interesting! Havent heard of that development- Do they have a launch date?

Do they have an FAQ thread like this one where you can ask these (and other hard) questions of the manufacturer? If so, that’s likely the best place to ask that. If not, start one!

But doesn’t the trident need a 2016 apex that also costs $700???

No. It requires an Apex that you can get for $500. Sometimes a little less. Then, you have something that is maybe a couple of hundred more, controls thirteen independent aquarium devices, has power monitoring, temperature monitoring, pH monitoring, alk testing, Ca testing, Mg testing, six switch inputs, and can be expanded to many other functions.

I don't understand the point of coming to the "Trident Faq's" post and commenting about other products. If you have a different product then great, go there and talk about how great it is. Why clutter up this thread?

Not sure why you think reefbot would be more expensive over time. The cost of reagents, for 3 test kits, would be negligible.

We're talking about a 300-400$ price difference between a box that does 8 tests and the other box that only does 3.

Accuracy (and build quality) are going to be the major factor for people deciding between the two options. If Trident doesn't have an obvious consistency/accuracy benefit over the reefbot, it going to be a hard sell for most.

I guess we'll have to wait and see, but 500-600 seems mighty extreme for 3 tests. 400 seems much more reasonable.

Edit: 40$ for trident reagent? Is that for all 3 tests?

Yeah from what I have read thats approx. price point for all three reagents for a 2 month supply. My biggest thing is the Trident will monitor on apex and track it--- That is why I personally am leaning that way.

There is nothing wrong with discussing the merits of other products in this thread. Expecting people to ignore competition (especially with a product with such little competition) is crazy.

Yes yes it would all be much easier if it were just sycophants and fanboys. But in reality, there is much to discuss.

Besides, its not exactly an "FAQ" when the two major questions (price/release date) still haven't been answered. Until then all we can do is hope/speculate/discuss.

I'm all about those graphs lol so it actually a decent selling point for me.

@Terence --- Maybe I am reading this incorrectly but I find it funny how my one question gets called out but when I compliment Neptune's efforts that comment goes unnoticed. So when is the trident expected to be released--- Just trying to stay on topic.

Please be under 2k--- @Terence I must admit--- in the position you have been in regarding the release of the Trident--- I commend you. I feel as though many were patient, others were not--- you and your team have undoubtedly kept us as up to date as possible with the inevitable hurdles you must have experienced in the process of putting out a piece of equipment that many have hoped for a long time would come to our hobby. I must also admit that I was looking at other options not because I wanted something outside of Apex but because of my need to monitor my parameters at a more detailed level. With that being said, I am excited that we are on the verge of a product that will help hobbyist move forward in monitoring our mini reefs health and I thank you and your team for working diligently to bring that to our hobby in a cost effective manner. so in short--- Thank you!!!

Just FYI, Alkatronic can also be connected to Apex via a BNC cable to an unused PH port. I monitor my Alk on Fusion this way.

I think Neptune only does discounting once or twice a year...I cannot imagine they will discount during trident release when there is a MAD DASH for trident and DOS.

Sale or not, there probably will be no shortage of Tridents being bought and sold on the release date. Although SOME sort of discount on a package deal for DOS and Trident would seem practical out of the gate. Otherwise, many may wait till a Black Friday deal and the inevitable 'wait and see' folks that want to see others reactions to the product before they jump in. I have not decided what camp I will be in yet :)

Nice price point for all three reagents for a 2 month supply. Appreciate all the feedback here Terence.

Given demand estimates, there will likely be people not able to get them on launch day. We will not have any discounted packages.

I would not take it personally. The comment I made was directly focused on someone requesting for more information that would take this thread off-track. Unlike many forums and FB groups I do not police the content such that no other competitor can be discussed or posts get dumped - instead, I (we) let the conversation flow. However, when it gets to the point where the discussion is off-track (detailed product questions, prices, release dates, etc for these other products) I would prefer those questions get dealt with elsewhere - and I may even join the conversation there.

That was my only point of quoting your post.
