Trident sample and waste tubing exact length?

So, Ashy Slashy (my evil cat….actually not evil except for this) somehow managed to squeeze between the wall and the back of my cabinet and ventured into the equipment area. Obviously she had a great time with the trident sample and waste tubing. Slashing and dashing and then when it started siphoning out, scurried out and started dancing in the water on the floor. At least she alerted me to the problem as I would never had noticed myself. Ironically none of the main suppliers carry these and neptunes site showed out of stock. I found the right sizes on Amazon and I should have them tomorrow but I need to know the length to cut them to. I’ve read 5’ in one post but it wasn’t definitive. Anyone know for sure? I have it running currently as I don’t comprehend how the length can actually make any difference with a peristaltic pump…but I made the sample and waste the same length, albeit very short compared to how it was just to be on the safe side Everything appears to have stayed the same, test results have been the same as before, no cuvette overills so I’m not sure what the big deal is but I guess I should make it right as I guess it will self destruct if I don’t.

To what degree variation in the length of the lines affects performance certainly isn’t clear to me. But people seem to spend a lot of time winging about trident accuracy and/or precision so it seems reasonable for Neptune to try to limit the variables. Otherwise caveat emptor.

Not much changes. The length was there to set a specific pressure drop for the pump to work against, but this should be a factor that can just be calibrated.

My trident feeds from an accessory closed loop so its inlet is actually pressurized. Doesn’t make a difference.

not having a rats nest is nice. I still need to replace the sample side at least as I only had enough undamaged clear tubing to make it work. I don’t think light gets to it to cause algae growth or anything but I may as well just go back with the black when it comes in. I think I’m just going to keep them to the length I need and not worry about having 5-6 feet of coiled up tubing any longer

1mm id / 3mm od is what I got, no issues to report.
