Ok once my giant Maxima clam was acclimated a bit I've been slowly moving him off the sand bed and further up towards the light.
I don't like the position he's in right now aesthetically but HE SURE DOES!!!

enapy7u3.jpg

He's now up above the large tangs that kept throwing sand on him and making him open/close a thousand times a day.

He's just about two inches below the surface with a 6 bulb T5 7" above that.

So the clam is really loving all his new light and the food that comes from it.

I really like this guy and have been waiting to get one for a long time.

Ok sheer panic hit me this morning when while feeding my huge hippo tang,
5e8ezumu.jpg
he got too excited and slammed into my main rock archway. Causing it to start a domino collapse sequence as I scrambled to grab coral frags and soften blows from falling rock.

Two hours later, me and my wife finally reconstructed the scape and modified it making it a little better than before.

This is the final result.

It is SUPER expoxied in place now with a full tube instead of just in a few places like before.

I think the worst part, besides the stress of it all, was the clown pair repeatedly ripping into my arm defending their Nem. My arm is tore up.

New digi and green sticks added yesterday.
Dosing pump still getting dialed in and kicking butt. Never seen soo much growth from my clam before!

All sps are growing like crazy!
Never realized how much I was under dosing the tank until now.

Still fighting the Dino algae. I think I'm starting to get the upper hand.

Neon green tube Zoanthid

And a new FTS
I added a new aqua blue special to the light and took out a purple plus. Lost some of the pop from the corals but I'm pretty sure I gained 50 par from it. So bright!

Thanks
That's not really where I want my clam aesthetically, but it is very practical for the clam.

It's up as close as possible to the light for maximum food creation and so the dumb tangs don't run into it or over it all day long making it close 1,000 times.

The down side is I can't see directly at the top of it where all the color is.

But for right now it's really happy and growing like crazy so it will stay. :)
