I want to begin the response by telling you how much I have learned from you over the last 3.5 years (my length of time in the hobby). I don’t post often because I’m still very much in the learning stage of this hobby. However, I have spent many hours learning from all those here with extraordinary experience and incredible knowledge, none more than you. So thank you for everything you’ve taught me and for taking the time to share your knowledge.
To answer your question. I have always automated dosing of Red Sea Foundation & Trace Elements (ABCD) via my Trident Apex system. However, due to the reasons i mentioned in my previous post, I decided to try the Triton subscription when it was recommended to me. Now you might find this interesting, but I have not stopped dosing anything else, I’ve simply added the custom mix to the lineup as a “fine tune” that changes monthly due to coral growth, new additions, etc. Basically it prevents me from having to engage in ongoing calculations and ever-changing dosing alterations. Now I just send the water test in monthly, the calculations & associated custom mix are sent to me and my tank is fine tuned. I’m sure this is unorthodox and I realize it is not how the system was intended to be used but I couldn’t decide how to make the change from Red Sea to Triton without having my coral suffer (i.e. stopping Red Sea, waiting an extended period of time for parameters to stabilize, then sending in a sample to see what was needed from the new Triton dosing). I hope this makes sense (I don’t mean the concept, I mean my description). I’ve attached a picture of my setup to help clarify.
