Good morning Reeffers
I have been dosing Bacto Balance TM for 15 days
(I have always had problems with low Po4 and No3) and my po4 has dropped to 0.02.
What do I do, stop with Bacto Balance and start dosing Plus NP?
And for how many days?!
And then go back to using Bacto?
And for how many days?!
Is a whole spray too much for 75 liters?!

Thanks as always

because I wanted to try to balance them when I started the bacto balance dosage they were not so low but they did not balance

Yep. You answered your own question. If you need to raise NP then you’ll use Plus NP until it’s in the range you want. The instructions explain this.

I can start with three days of plus NP and check?
do i suspend the bacto?

Good morning Reefers
I have been dosing Plus NP TM for 15 days (I suspended Bacto balance) to try to raise the Po4 but nothing I am stuck at 0.04.
Would it be useful to dose Phos Feed? And suspend Plus NP?
I don't know what to do anymore

New systems may absorb phos for a bit. Also if you have any type of algae it will be consuming your nutrients. Any of those apply to you? Are you using a fleece roller? Stop with water changes. I think it’s easy to run into these issues today with all the advanced filtration methods.

The tank has been running in DSB for years, I don't have algae filters, I've always had problems with low Po4, I thought I could solve it with NP Plus but...

I wasn’t referring to chaeto type algae filters, but display type algae such as gha or cyano?
I dealt with low nutrients for a long time. It ended up being my lights were on way too long and I was feeding cyano.

no I don't have algae or cyano i have a skimmer 400i deltec

Well you’re measuring .02 higher than mentioned previously or the testing accuracy is fluctuating. In my experience with Plus NP, 15 days is not enough to come to a conclusion. It took my 300liter tank about 4 weeks to respond to the Plus NP. It raised it very very slowly.

What problem are you trying to solve?

What time of day are you dosing this? I believe they recommend at the beginning of your corals photosynthesis for the day.

Maybe try turning off your skimmer?

You could also add some Reef Roids each day to help the increase of PO4.

Today Po4 at 0.03 hanna 774
I will wait a month to see a result.
I want to avoid my acroporas starving to death and follow the Tropic Marin protocol with higher Po4 I also have very low No3 but the one for TM does not seem to be a problem.
I will do a water change tomorrow after a month.
I also use Zooton powder every other day as well as amino acids and Korallen nutrition (Koral vitalizer) always every other day.
But Po4 always very low.
In fact I had thought of dosing the Phos Feed always from TM.

As a new reef keeper trying these products for myself I think there not as simple as they could be.
Some people claim plus np and bacto balance almost act similar in there tank as there both carbon dosing, even though plus is supposed to be milder form of carbon dosing with added N and P, people report very slow increase of nutrients with plus Np.
I think with any carbon dosing it seems if your nutrients are bottoming out or your water is cloudy your adding to much, I experienced this with plus np even though it’s designed to add nutrients
In my case it was easy to get bacterial blooms so I’m having to let it clear and try a much lower dose.
I’m going to try and gauge my plus NP dose more in line with the bacto balance calculator to see if I can slowly increase my nutrients without bacterial blooms or bottoming N and P out

With carbon dosing halving the recommended starting dose is probably a good idea to see if there’s any negative effects.

I think a easier practice as other people have suggested is adding individual P and N separately to get them where you want them before using a carbon source like plus np or bacto balance
You can use off the shelf products like neophos for P and neonitro for N or food grade sources like the ones randy recommends which can be dosed to fine tune your levels.
I know it’ feels nicer to stay in tropic marins micro system but maybe it’s easier using other products before there carbon ?
Reef zelements carbon System has a carbon source a N source and a P source so you can individually tune it, seems more intuitive personally

I’m going to keep trying the plus NP at a low dose to see if I can get my nutrients stable and I have the phosfeed which does seem to give the P a nice bump but I may end up using neophos and neo nitro if needed because I can put them on a doser
Then I’ll give the bacto balance a try.

I have been using TM's NP plus for 45 days now but my Po4 levels are always very low. I stopped taking Bacto Balance 45 days ago and I don't know what to do anymore.

You can try phosfeed if you want to stick to TM or grab some neophos or equivalent and dose to instructions
