Came home today to see that my trumpet was showing skeleton (again). I have a few ideas on what caused this, though I might need help on how to fix it.

Yesterday, I did maintenence on the tank; I plucked off algae and scrubbed/basted algae spots with Hydrogen Peroxide. I also stirred up the sand to kick up detritus to get filtered out and also to feed my corals.

Should I just do a water change and wait for it to heal?

Water changes help if we are talking about residue from hydrogen peroxide or a change in nutrients from scrubbing rock or disturbing the sand bed. Another thought would be adding Restor to your tank. LPS respond incredibly well to it. I’ve saved torches and hammers by doing Restor dips or just by shutting down flow and doing a light baste with it.

Maybe you read it already, but here's a good (info/debate) thread on h202

- Thread 'Hydrogen Peroxide Bench-testing' https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/hydrogen-peroxide-bench-testing.818857/
Thanks for sharing. I’ve read this article and use it in my own systems for ich management and disease management in general. Some of my corals got very upset when I started dosing it in my system which is why I wondered whether this might be a response to the H2O2.

Yeah. I was in the 'it breaks down quickly' camp but after reading that thread I'm not so sure. Dosage amounts matter obviously (among other things) but maybe the op doesn't have a lot of organics for it to oxidize so it's at higher levels? I think it will rebound if left alone though; I'd probably do nothing if it were me :)

Agreed, I wouldn’t touch it yet. I do really love how positively LPS responds to Restor though so I always keep some on hand in the event that some of them start to looks really off.

Update:
I did a 10-gallon water change last week. As of today, the coral has fully healed. I also bought a tuxedo urchin to deal with my invasive macroalgae problem so I don't have to use H2O2.
