Ok.....sitting here on the 5th week of covid vacation and had a thought. Just looking for insight or constructive criticism. In the coming weeks I will be setting up a 10gal all in one from Lifeguard aquatics.

Skimmers for nano tanks, from what I've read, are up-draft, and minimally effective. Due to dwell time. Adding a skimmer with a pump is usually h.o.b. or won't fit in the chamber. But no one has argued that the Aeration isn't a benefit.

Turf scrubbers are newer, cheap, seem to be effective, can be made at home and use up-draft aeration anyway. So why not take advantage of this and add a collection cup. In a small aquarium the flow is not massive so the dwell time might be enough.

Am I crazy, here is a rough sketch.

Paper realization. So far. Should slide in and out for easy clean up. Clean out. Now for the collection cup. Then acrylic shopping.

Put an airstone in a pipe with some red led's, and you'll have a scrubber/skimmer. I made an algae scrubber out of pvc for my quarantine tank. The skimmer portion of it was an unintended side effect.

Where/how did you incorporate the lighting?

I need to put together a build thread on how I make my underwater lights.
You should start a business building and selling these. Have you seen the price of premade scrubbers? It's insane! How much would they pay for a scrubber skimmer all in one! That replaces like $600 worth of equipment.
