New sump design is done, and back in place. I blacked out the back, looks way better.

Then the next disaster. Replumbing my reservoirs. Also redoing some module wiring. I had put all Neptune gear under the QT tanks. But when any probes faulted out. It was so hard to change them, or opticals for that matter. So I'm now moving modules closer to where I need them.

Really sucks doing all this while I have a full temp system running. Makes for a wiring nightmare

Controls and plumbing done. I've been testing/running the system for the last week with fresh water. Pretty excited. Aqua scapping this weekend :) I'll add some photos when I get a chance

How do you like the new Neptune SKY?
I really likes the look of them. I'll get some photos up soon. I actually ended up making a full aluminum fixture to mount all the lights into. To make it easier to lift them up and down so I can get into tank.

DONE!!! System is back up and running. A little late posting but here we are.

Miracles aquariums did a amazing job changing the front panel. It's been re trimmed and painted. You can't even tell it was done.

So to start, I've literally torn everything down and started over. I found doing this a second time. It has allowed me to address things I'd have changed from the start. Or tweak something that was existing. Everything I did this time. Is geared toward easy maintenance. From bigger socks, simpler sump design, SKY's ballast to easily raise, UV's are more accessible, etc.

Rock scape I chose not to build as high. I found this is far better, less rock cluter. And the fish seem to love it. As their more actively swimming around. Pictures don't do justice for all the nooks and tunnels I created. I can now easily reach each corner from the top.

Re plumbing the system was alot of fun. And I was able to clean it all up, from everything I slowly added into the system last time. I expanded out onto my wall. Put union underneath so I can seperate sump from plumbing, helps for cleanings. Changed all tubing, and re did make up water station, put a higher gpm pump on reservoir. I also added two sediment faucets off on left side of laundry tub, so I don't need to keep pulling of siphon adapter.

The SKY's I made a aluminum ballast to hold them. One problem I always had, was my T5 hybrid was super heavy, and annoying to move up. I have to get lights as high as possible. In order to reach down the 30" depth. This makes it light, and super easy to raise and lower. And when I raise them now, it offsets back 6" toward the QT tanks. So it sucks right up to framing. Gives me more room that I ever have to access the tank.

For controls, I re did my entire Neptune control board, to make more room on it. Removed all wiring and restarted installing one by one for all modules in new locations. I added a third Dos for amino's. AB+ and Acropower sit in a mini fridge, and dose in from there. Moved all QT 1 and 2 tank fmms up beside the tanks. And moved one fmm up on right side of display. One thing I always found, is when a prob failed, it was a pia to change. Now it's easy peasy.

My QT3 under my bench now has a ATK ran to it. No longer need to add water manually to that one. And I also added a temp probe and fmm to reservoir. So my pre mix is always numbers matching temp with all my tanks.

Well, that's it I think lol, I'm sure I've forgotten a bunch out. But this time around so much has changed.

Now if this new system can hurry up and mature. And get passed my minor issues right now that I have, that would be great :). Some photos under Sky "photo mode" and then under blues at night.

Are you doing anything special or unique with your Apex setup? If you ever need some advanced Apex programming automation advice, I'm happy to help. If you're not aware, I'm the guy who published all those Apex tutorials here on R2R:

Ya, you've helped me a few times with programming :).

I dont currently use any, but I really should start. It would have saved me a partial crash a couple years ago when I forgot to turn on the return pumps after a feeding.

With 34 modules and countless opticals. I'm sure I'd find a use for them. Right now, 4 tanks are controlled by Apex. I have them presentlly set so feed A is DT maintenance. Feed B is QT 1 maintenance, etc, etc. And each corresponding heater/filter/wav, etc, etc will shut off according to what feed mode it is.

I'm going to read up on your articles when I get a chance here. And see if I can simplify some of my choas lol

I'm still confused. Before I had done panel change on the display, I use to be able to grow sps like it were a weed. Now I loose piece after piece. Maybe it's time to add T5s with the Sky's.

What would make calcium not drop?

It's been off for almost three weeks and hasn't bugged. It was floating Around 480 and I was attempting to bring it down slightly.

Could I still be in new tank syndrom phase? I find coraline algae hasn't really taken off yet either, although you can see it in the system.

And some sps still gets burnt tips. High placement nothing, but a couple have done it again in mid placement. I'm getting frustrated.

Parameters
1.025
Cal 480
Alk 8.4
Mag 1400
Nitrate 6.2
Phos .15
Ph 8.13

Was your PO4 where it is now when you were able to grow SPS. I would try to get it down to about 0.08 or so.

Calcium falls slower than alkalinity in every tank I've ever had for some reason. Since your tank is new and there's not much coraline algae or corals growing calcium not going down is not too surprising. How long has this tank been set up?

It's had coral in it for three months now. Some of which were dinner plate sized sps colonies. When I had my t5/led combo fixture over the old setup the phos averaged around .05-.06.

What is your daily ALK consumption?

Also, have you had any ALK swings?
Alk has been 8.3-8.4 like a rock for over 5-6 weeks at least. Icp showed nothing, and all trace elements were within range.

Daily alk consumption has been 29ml for months. Cal was set the same until I turned it off three weeks ago.

Dosing spread out equally over 24hrs

Which ICP did you send in?

So Alk is not being consumed either or just Cal? If Cal stops consuming, typically ALK will too.

Also, AB+ is high in barium. I’d ditch it. Could be part of your problem.

How do you maintain/dose Iodine?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to zero in on what the problem is. If Cal is not being consumed at all, there’s a problem. It will be consumed less in some systems, but the consumption shouldn’t stop completely and if it dose you would typically see your ALK consumption stop as well. Something isn’t adding up.

Triton icp. I stopped dosing ab+ and acro power about a month ago, as I was also thinking that may possibly be one culprit.

Ya so far the dos is only doing alk daily, no cal for the three weeks. And nothing has bugged parameters. I tested each twice to be certain yesterday.

Triton is good. I was hoping it wasn’t ICP analysis. Glad you stopped the AB+

How much ALK is being consumed? A lot of just a little.

Oh thought I put in previous message. It's 29ml per 24hours for alk consumption
