Got this little guy today and the LFS wasn't sure what kind of SPS this is.

One of the Birdsnest or Stylophora varieties it looks like.

Agree - looks like a common "Purple Stylo" but begs the question: why are you going to this LFS after this remark:

It was a new guy who was working there. The owners weren't there. They know their stuff with saltwater
