When did you get your tank? It looks great I assume you had Felix make it custom for you at RSavvy correct? Was is a great experience, i am curious for we are going to soon start a reef tank with them also.

I got my tank 2 years ago and Felix did a great job, the quality is amazing

Outstanding!! I don't get when some say they don't like T5s. Your tank is the perfect light combo IMo...just greatness. All colors popping...looks very healthy

Thank you! I love my light setup and the flexibility it gives me. I was able to get the exact par and color I was after

Please post more photos of your corals. Your tank is just so beautiful. Can I ask, how long it took to get coralline algae on the bottom?

Lookin great Phil!
I love seeing good sized colonies in there with plenty of room to grow.

That Red Dragon does have a sweet growth pattern going.

Your reef tank look great. I see on the first page of your post you have no carbon no GFO running and hence I assume all the cleaning work is down between the sump and skimmer. Might I ask what your sump looks like or details, Are you doing any sand in it, or by chance biopellets? Or is it marco algae set up? Just curious for your tank looks great.

Thanks for the compliment! I'll post up some pics of my equipment soon but my sump is very simple with just a set of baffles, a large cone skimmer and a live rock to help break up the bubbles from the skimmer. No GFO, carbon dosing or biopellets of any kind.

Your setup is great!

How do you keep nutrients down with only a skimmer and live rock?

What LED's are you using?

I run barebottom and just routinely blow the detritus off the rocks and siphon it out....I try to keep it simple. I'm sure carbon dosing works well for some people but I've never found it necessary.

I run Reefbrites. I don't think they do much for growth but they help some of the colors pop a bit more. I run them without any other lights on from 11-11:30pm, the colors look pretty trippy but it's not my style. I like the more natural look but it is relaxing to look at before I go to bed.

Update:

Joshporksandwic came by yesterday to hang out and gave me some camera tips! Now that it doesn't take me 40 shots to get one decent one, I'll be putting updates up more frequently.
