Why can't this be easy? Guess I'm calling BRS first thing tomorrow morning to see what suggestions they have. I am setting up a just-purchased Reefer 170, so it's a G2 and picked up the Aquamaxx fleece roller specifically designed to fit the 170, and guess what... It doesn't fit. It appears that Red Sea changed the configuration of the main down-pipe, adding a coupling which gets in the way of the fleece roller's subassembly and it cannot be slid down into place. My LFS had an old down-pipe from the previous generation 170, and it does not have this coupling, however I tried to install the old down-pipe and while the dimension are the same, the threading on the coupling is different and it does not seem to be compatible with the G2 plumbing.

I really don't want to have to custom plumb this thing, I bought a tank/sump system and a "compatible" fleece roller expecting it to all fit together. Has anyone else yet run into this? Did you get a solution from BRS? Aquamaxx?

Just got off the phone with BRS, there is no solution and they are going to update the marketing on the website to indicate that this fleece roller is not compatible with the G2 plumbing configuration. Because I built my sump design around this roller, I plan to modify the body of the roller, widening it so that the new style plumbing will fit.

Yea looks like that union coupling they added is for their own Red Sea Reefmat roller…

Brilliant hahaha. You essentially cut the body, and extended it out with jb weld if i’m seeing it correctly? Looks amazingly clean if thats how you did it.
Let me know how it works, i just set up my 170g2 last weekend!

Yep, that's what I did, set the tablesaw blade at 1/4" height, cut the side panel out, neatly along the seams. Then used JB WaterWeld to extend the side out about 1/2". Not going to have water in the tank for about a month or so, but will certainly report back on any issues. I do have a build thread running as well.
