Ughh foam under lowboy tank?

Hey guys, I built my aquarium stand and although I did my very best to make it square and true there is still a slight gap in a couple corners with 3/4 plywood underneath. Would it be a good or bad idea to use some sort of foam under the tank to even put these gaps? The tank is a 50g zoomed lowboy. Thanks in advanced!

Okay I’m not sure which is better, I was always told not to put foam under rimmed tanks but I’ve also seen many people do it.

Many use 1/2" or 3/3" construction foam as a leveling pad. Ideally is to start with precise leveling itself and utilize foam as an assurance

No foam under rimmed tanks. This comes directly from the manufacturers. If you use too thick of foam, it can put pressure on the bottom pane of glass and will cause failure.

Also, foam doesn't level anything. Foam is used under rimless tanks so that any small imperfections/pebbles/etc don't put pressure on the glass and shatter it

I ran a 360g for almost 3 years on foam and NO issues and it was rimmed

I would use a leveling foam/mat under a rimmed tank and not the thick insulation foam. I actually have a nib leveling pad from BRS haha that I bought and never used. It’s only 1/8” would be good for a rimmed tank. It is the larger 80x48 for $46

The tank is rimmed so as long that there is structural support on all the corners and the gaps aren’t that wide not to adding padding is a personal choice and doesn’t give any structural support.… your not going to see any minor gaps under the corners anyway if the tank is flush on them. I built my stand so the tank sits on 1/2 plywood with no foam…just make sure the tank is level.
