I have the 180 and found the same issue at the start but after break in it was perfect, about a week. The sump water level was very critical during break in. Raise it up and it will be a lot more manageable. This is without a doubt the best skimmer I have ever had, would not trade it for anything.

I agree this thing is solid. I left for work with it dialed in best I could and it’s overflowing a little. The lid is half way on which helps. I will raise it up later today when I get home. I just hate that I’ll have salt everywhere, which it’s a sump so bound to happen I guess. No fish in the system yet as the tank is just completing the cycle so no worries there.

You will really appreciate the design when cleaning it. The center of the cup being removable is awesome.

Out of curiosity what water level did you settle at after break in?

The skimmer is still overflowing if I rest it on the bottom of the sump. Water level is right at 9”. I’ve got both dials all the way open and it still gushes to the top. There’s got to be something else I can do rather than make a stand for it. Any ideas?

Does it do it all the time or only agter you do something? Example: feeding or replacing socks/floss

This is a new system without any inhabitants so no feeding. I have a filter roller. Does it all the time. It’s been elevated about 10 days thinking it would break in but no change

Guess I’ll let it ride like this hoping it will calm down soon. Par for the course for me. Nothing I do is easy

Does it still do it if you pull the Venturi hose off the silencer?

Normally the water output would have to be almost closed for the level to be that high inside. I’m wondering if there’s a blockage somewhere.

Could be in the silencer. It unscrews at the bottom.

Reconnected everything and so far so good. There might have been a blockage in the tube connected to the bottom cap but I don’t see how the Venturi wouldn’t clear it if that was the case. Anyway, thanks for the help!
