Uncommon soft coral id

Just wondering if anyone has seen one of these before and recall the species, it seems to be some sort of NPS with a pair of shrimps living on it, maybe a symbiosis relationship that could help with identification.

My guess is one of the Sinularia sp brown fingers that's been growing in low light.

It has been collected from the ocean in the last few weeks. Am quite familiar with sinularia and can tell that it’s not it, it looks like a cross between a leather coral and a dendronephthya

My guess would be a Stereonepthya, but I've never seen one with that coloration.

sorry should of waited for the polyps to open, this coral doesn’t deflate like most soft corals do, it keeps the body structure similar to a leather coral. Unfortunately Kenya and stereonephya do deflate

Thank you, the skeleton is more of a leather coral unfortunately and it doesn’t sting to touch.

When scuba divers mention fire coral.or Elkhorn yes they are talking about large stony colonies of milli.
I'm talking about soft fire corals like carnations. Ect.

They are usually non photosynthetic and require addition feedings
Look up Chilli corals. Soft fire coral.

Love that book, and appreciate you going out of your way to try and help unfortunately I am familiar with those species and can tell it’s something different.

the description doesn’t match any I went trough the similar ones in your book also, the importer was scratching his head trying to figure it out also, they work with a vast amount of different soft corals on a daily basis. That’s why they offered it to me as they know this is my kind of thing. It’s definitely a NPS it doesn’t react to light. It doesn’t shrink only polyps close if disturbed.

It looks like it may be Chironenephtya, never heard of that coral before :)

It’s Chironenephtya spend the hole of yesterdays reading a article on the coral and it looks a match, just need to see how long will it survive in home aquaria now
