Where can I find that plastic material you put down for an under gravel filter. It's usually white. I'm looking for a red color.

If you use egg create you can paint it red. I assume you are not going to bury it.

I have seen it in white, black silver and gold according eplastics.com - they might be able to do a special order - but you would have 1000 lbs of egg crate:). unfortunately

Im not sure why you can not paint it. I use egg create as a screen for my overflow and have used it for a screen in my sump. I always Paint_It_Black

Aren't you worried the paint will leach into the tank water?
I use rattle cans of Krylon Fusion. After it has dried all the VOC's are gone. Others have used it with no issues I know of. You can google it. Im sure there are threads here.
