Underwater camera

Hey guys, I am thinking of buying an underwater camera. My ex gf use to have the cannon proshot d30, and it worked pretty well. A lot of the pics I taken/posted in the past were with that camera under my t5 lights. I am thinking of getting the Fujifilm finepix xp90, anyone have any experience with it, or anyone have more knowledge on what would be important/matter for such a camera? Links to both below.

Following, but with a follow on question: What about using a GoPro? I have a Hero5 Session, which is supposedly waterproof and have been thinking about either: 1) mounting it to a PVC pipe to maneuver it around the aquarium or 2) mounting it to an RC submarine. I don't think the saltwater would do any harm to the camera because I'd have no hesitation diving with it, but I'm wondering if the camera could do any harm to the aquarium or if this is just a bad idea.

Nope its fine. Many folks do it. I think there's some youtube stuff on it.

from what i have seen, the go pro does do a great job. My gf got me a knockoff, i believe this one (link below), not the greatest.

Following. I'm also looking for a camera that can do streaming video to my smart phone or tablet. The EK7000 looks OK but not sure about 170 degree lens.

TMC recently released a new Reef cam over here in the uk. Connects to wifi too so you can view it on an app on your phone. No idea if it's any good but I do like the look of it! Maybe something for you to have a look at?

Umm.... all cameras are basically the same in that respect. We use the same nikon at ocean depth as we do in our living rooms. the only real difference is a higher spike in the actinic ranges because its nicer to look at.. And even then the difference there is specific to the led fixture settings and tubes used.

thank you sir, i know there is a lot more to do with great pics, white balance, lenses, jpeg vs raw, and realistically mostly user, but for a novice like me, and for the cost, that cannon was unbeatable. Was thinking the fujifilm xp90 has a higher megapixle count, so maybe better?

IMO mega pixels mean squat(sorry) manual control, higher iso with less grain, wider color gamut, and closer focus are better to look for.
that cannon its pretty darn close. and yea Fuji and sony are really left out of the hobby race commonly. In lte lat two years though there's been more and more Sony and Fuji being used professionally.
