Unidentified Aquatic Object

Just noticed this in my sump this morning. It hasn't moved in the past hour and a half. A friend of mine thinks it is a sponge. Any ideas?

I dont know what these are but i have them in my tank and they’re harmless.

Looks like a sponge/filter feeder of some sort (maybe a pineapple sponge). Agree it’s likely a harmless filter feeder.

Your friend (and IKD) is right - that's a sponge; harmless/beneficial.
