Definitely sounds like a pistol to me. Mine liked to use frags to decorate (and close at night) it's burrow.

(not my pic) This might be the culprit. My corals came from Florida. These look like the comon pistol shrimp hitch hikers that come out of Florida.

Most likely some kind of invert, but do you have a pair of Banggai Cardinals in the tank? Mine make a sound like something tapping the glass but it is part of their mating noise.
That's so cute!!!
Like Banggais needed to be even cuter [emoji7]

Loving this shrimp hunt thread.

Still nothing in the trap. But I did some hard core thinking so I can remember where I got what. So I got these cool blue stripe mushrooms on a small rock. I dipped it but the shrimp or mantis might of survived inside the rock. I went to the store where I baught it and they said they found a bunch of baby pistols in the frag tank. Soooo..............YATZEEEE! I most likely have a pistol shrimp. I still yet to see him.

Im hearing a constant snaping, so im guessing that confirms a pistol shrimp? Mantis only snap for a kill right? Everthing in my tank would be dead by now if that were the case. He seems to snap when the pepermint shrimp are in his area. I still cant see him though. He hasnt come out for food at all.
