I recently moved and figured I’d do a build thread that I never did when I first set up this tank a year ago. The tank and stand are a little scratched, but it’s a sweet rimless system.

Tank specs:
UNS 90P ~35”x17.7”x17.7”~44 gallons
UNS stand- scratched during the move
X Aqua in-out overflow and return
Rimless 10 gallon Aqueon with Fiji cube sump kit
Printed reef filter box with plain polyfil cut into squares for easy filter change
Kessil AP9X
Vectra S2
MP10 ( I have an m40 too, but want low flow)
Apex EL- just temp probe. My ph probe needs to be replaced
Custom breakout box
BRS 100watt titanium heater
Eshopps s-120 with icecap co2 scrubber
Versa pumps x2 ( I need one more)
Cheap Amazon ato
Vertex glass cleaner and probe holder

For this build I plan on keeping mostly euphyllia, acans, and zoas. No sand, just a simple low flow system. I usually dose kalkwasser and all for reef, but I’m tired of dealing with the kalk mess, so I’m going to use aquaforest 3 part. I’ve had success with it in the past. I’ll probably start with evs two part until I get a third dosing pump. I’m starting to make water today. I might have it full soon.

Tank filled. I really like the x aqua return. Definitely makes the water wiggle. Just a cool effect.

Got a couple lbs of live rock in the sump today. Completed aqua scape. I reused some rock from my last build. Staxx rock and Marco dry rock. I’m going to start cycling tomorrow hopefully. Waiting for Dr Tim’s fishless cycle bacteria.

It’s not too bad. No burping. Just sound of water flowing. It’s noisiest in the sump, but it could be dampened. It gets quieter as the tank matures.

Day 1 of Dr. Tim’s cycle. I forgot to mention I have about a half a liter of siporax and half a liter of matrix. This is a bare bottom so hopefully there will be enough surface area with just the rock and medias.

The tank cycled after about 14 days but I waited a few more days until adding some pods. Added pods yesterday. I added a tiny clown today. Pic overexposed.

Update. Got a few torches. I had a little bit of GHA that temporarily took over, but I’ve since scraped it off of the glass and gotten a lawnmower blenny. The glass stays relatively clean for days at a time. I started dosing Plus-np and acro power to keep healthy tissue. NO3 and PO4 hardly measurable. I’ve also been feeding a lot. Most corals seem pretty happy so far. Kessil at 50% with BRS recommended setting.

Nice looking torches!
