Upgraded/fixed biocube stand

hopefully this can help other biocube owners
I never was really happy with my stock biocube stand it always would rack side to side when cleaning glass with a mag float causing my doors to some times pop out of the peg holes and I always feared it could collapse the back panel is a glued in piece of pretty much cardboard I replaced that with a
3/4x2’x2’ project panel from home depot 10$ Cut to 17 5/8 x 21
Screwed that in with 1” pocket hole screws using a kreg jig 40$ Home Depot if you do a lot of DIY get yourself one of these kits there awesome

the plywood gave me the opportunity to mount my power strip I aslo added a bead of silicone for the hell of it and I used 8 corner brackets I got from the 1$ store to help support the sides to the top and bottom this stand is rock solid now for the doors I upgraded to real hinges I had these laying around but there pretty cheap at any hardware store

what’s the white box at the top?

Test kit drawer I had some 1x8 lumber plus a 1/4 piece plywood laying around and a pair cabinet slides 5$ Home Depot and made a drawer to hold all my gear more neatly and out of the kitchen or bathroom ( girlfriend is happy ) ;)

Looks awesome :-) . I would like to update my biocube 29G stand as well, so thanks for the detailed write out. I am thinking of mounting the power strip sideway, its bit longer for me.

Thanks I used to have my power strip double stick taped to the side of the stand

The back wall is now just as thick as the sides. I figured I would have to add brackets too but it wasn't needed, it is solid. I was happy they fixed it.

My back wall was like 1/8” cardboard they wanted you to glue in place lol glad they upgraded I’m almost sure they had some stand failures

Wow... my biocube stand seems sturdy.... And we've moved it all over the place... including different states. I had no idea that it was flimsy for some people.

My son used Alexa controlled multi color change LED's in his stand like @Scurvy did in his. It does look cool.
