Upgrading cheep chinese ligting

Has anybody replaced manual potentiometers on the cheep chinese led lights to some form of ramp up timers? Ive modified the led layout on my Chinese blackbox to be very blue orientated with a few uvs and 1 white, pretty happy with the coral coloration and growth and the ligting overall but after doing some research ive found a few old threads of people saying they ate going to or have replaced the manual pots with ramp up timers? Ive not found any posts that have actually described what parts they have used and how they have done it?

Cheers for the help guys, i decided not to mess around with it because i managed to pick up a kessil a360we, spectrum controller and a gooseneck locally for £200 so i thought id treat myself
