Urchin question

I have had a black urchin in my tank for years but he is losing his spikes like crazy. Any idea why and how to help him?

Check your tank parameters. Low or high salt content, wrong temp, high nutrients and alkalinity etc can cause that. I would check everything and try and feed it.
