You need to separate chamber for the return pump. The pump also need to have screener so that “things” does not get into it. Small snails can really messed up the pump.

So you had the chaeto in the first chamber with the rock? I would get the snails out of the skimmer chamber to because they can clog intake or exit.
Think I caught a fleeting glimpse of it in the chamber before the return (in the vid). But it coulda been big foot... ;)

Take a look at my sump which is somewhat similar to yours just more square shape. You can see my rock rubble with the chaeto on top of it.

If I see your picture correctly you have chaeto in your return pump chamber. This is completely wrong and will mess things up.

Lavey29, it looks like it's in the same chamber but it's in the chamber before the return pump chamber

Ok well then you just need a good method to prevent strands from getting through. I used one of those small netted fish fry boxes before to hold my chaeto and keep it from getting loose in my sump.

It's not necessary. I just didn't have room so I combined mine into one chamber. Your main concern should be ensuring the chaeto doesn't reach your pump or end up in your DT either.

Just ordered some aquamesh I'll throw that in my return pump chamber. Do you have copepods in your cheato chamber?
