Unfortunately there are too many variables to even give you an answer. How much water was the coral packaged in.....how long has the coral already been in shipping.....what is the temp of the water....what species....etc. I have kept boxes sealed that were received in the morning and not opened until that night without any issues.

Type of coral matters as well. Ive had LPS sit for a weekend at an airport due to shipping delays and be okay upon receiving it Monday. On the flip side Ive received SPS RTN’ing the bag when arriving more or les on time.

So long as the box is not left out in extreme temps you should be fine waiting a few hours to open and process when you get home from work later that day for instance. Better yet would be to have someone open the box and float the bags in your sump until you can get to it. Ive had my better half do that for me more than once When Ive been stuck at work or otherwise engaged.
