Used Kessil A360WE worth it?

Hi all,

I am using a Twinstar full spectrum light at the moment. But I do want to get some real lights now. I wasnt really fond of the ultra blue lights. But the sky blue 10k from these Kessils are nice though.

The question is how do I spot old ones? Or what should I check for?

53 gallon 28” x 20” x 24”, budget isn’t massive so kinda glad I found those. I will be mainly focussing on mushrooms, BTAs and maaaaybe a tapetum mini carpet. Got a GSP and 3 discosoma at the moment. So mainly softies and LPS :)

I really like kessils. One of those may give you shadowing, but will grow anything you are looking at. 2 would take care of the shadow and you'd probably want to turn them down quite a lot.

These are quite old models by now. Without taking them apart, I would at least check to make sure they can run at full intensity and since you are getting multiple lights, also make sure the spectrum matches at full intensity also.
I've repaired dozens and dozens of these and A360x. The biggest issue with A360w is that one of the LED channels on the clusters starts to go and shorts out. Which then burns out components on the main board and there is not much you can do anymore with that light.
So turn them on to full intensity on all channels and let them run for 15 minutes or longer. If they are faulty, they will likely fail quickly at full.
Also, obviously check to make sure the fans are running. Most fans on this model have date stamped to 2012, so you are looking at a 12 yo fans at this point.

Yea this sounds amazing. And I dont know but for me it kinda finishes the build? A hangoverish light above a reef tank just seem nice haha

Man thank you! I can use that for sure. The lights do like they’re maintained but yes you never know.
