Using Reefmat Without App

I'm thinking about getting a Red Sea Reefmat, but I don't want to use the app. Is it possible to use it without ever setting up the app? It looks like there are buttons on the controller to advance the fleece, so it seems like everything should be usable without the app. But some "smart" things I've encountered in the past require an initial setup or registration before they let you use it at all.

I don't think you can use it without the initial setup with the App. It was pretty easy to go thru and connected easily for me. I use a WIFI Mesh system that broadcasts 2.4g and 5g ....no issues.

It’s very glitchy, I set mine up with WiFi and it worked for about a month. Now I’m no longer able to reconnect it with the app and since then it will not auto roll. I can still push the buttons to advance it but without the app it’s a fancy looking manual roller filter. I really regret buying mine and I’m two weeks past my return window so I’m stuck with the crappy thing

you need it for initial setup, I had issues with mine connecting to my 5ghz wifi, had to switch the whole house temporarily to 2.4ghz. Plus, you also reset a new roll via the app. You could use the bottoms to quick adjustments.
