Hi all, I just added a 9W UV Sterilizer to my 30G reef, and I've noticed a pretty significant temperature jump. It's gone from 79-80F to ~83F.

Should I turn it on a timer to only go for a couple hours a day? Or was it just a bad purchase?

I mostly want it to polish my water, but also to keep algae off my glass, and reduce risks of disease.

Thanks for any input!

Of course I have room for 1 more fish!

Yes, a timer will be good.

I had to do the same thing.

In run mine for 12 hours per day.

Thanks! I've just heard that this is bad for the bulb, but I suppose that's better than cooking my fish lol

Think I should run it over night to avoid having it heat things up in conjunction with the lights?

I'm just worried about hurting my pod population, since they come out mostly at night.
