I set up two 12v batteries in series with a tunze safety connector to act as a backup for my varios 4. When I disconnect the power, instead of switching to battery it goes into error mode, two flashing red lights. If I push the power button it fires up and runs just fine on the batteries. Seems like the initial shock of the switch is putting it in an error state. Any advice?

Problem solved!

All it took was a little patience. After several more tries, I realized that "sometimes" there is a delay. Sometimes the pump stops and restarts immediately, other times there is a 45-60 second delay before the red lights go away and the pump restarts. Also, it seems there is that same delay everytime the pump goes from battery back to the house power. But, it does work and seems consistent. Hopefully I can get a chance to test how long the battery lasts soon. Calculator says 36 hours.
