I am winning the battle... Most of these tubes are death.

But... let's just say I had a problem to deal with.
I am fine. No worries here.

Yeah I’m curious to know how you had an explosion of vermited snails in your tank.

@twentyleagues @Gumbies R Us

I was running a lot of NPS corals and fed them 8 times a day with a mixture of finefoods. The corals looked great but the Vermitted snail took control.
I did this for about 1 year and decided things need to change.

I removed the NPS corals and stoped feeding. Now, about 6 months later I almost never see a fresh new red tube. They are still in the tank (can never get rid of them), but let's hope this reset is going to help.

I now added a lot a bumblebee snails and am in the proces of removing the tubes. I brush them off with a toothbrush and let the rest be. New vermitted snails should be devoured by the bumbles.

If I am ready with the cleaning I will add the NPS back and will start feeding again. But this time the army of Bumbles are ready to keep it in check.

I hope.

I had vermetid snails for the last 5 years... They covered all my live rock, thousands of little spikes just like yours. I tried a lot of things, and brought around 40 bumble bee snails to battle them. I broke off what I could by hand. It seem to help but actually it was wishful thinking.. The vermetid multiply faster than consumed by bumble bees.

But today I am finally ride of vermetid through the most unlikely solution...

I had a bad dino outbreak, and the toxins wiped out most of my snails (turbos, etc) but the interesting thing is, it anniliated my vermetid too.. It only took a few weeks for this to happen. All my live rock must have been covered with them and now its completely gone.

So you want vermetid gone? Better get some dinos!

Mine have been replaced by hundreds of little fan worms. They fuzz the underside of the rock only and come off with genle scrubbing. Definitely a good change.
