Hi

I’m a beginner with a 13.5 gallon fluval evo.

About 4 months old, with 2 clowns and a royal gramma for about the last 3 months

All gone really well, until this morning when one clown seemed weak and wouldn’t feed and he spent the day hiding

I took a water sample, did a 15% water change and added an air stone.

Lfs tested the water and reported it all ok. Prior to this I’ve had it tested weekly and it’s been stable

Advice was, as the fish has no spots or markings to leave it alone and wait.

This evening he seemed a little better, but now i just checked an he is upside down on the rock.

Not sure what I’ve done wrong. He’s still alive but I’d guess not for long.

What do I do? Just wait and take him out when I’m sure he is dead.

Those are two photos from earlier today.

The other part of the story is I added a GSP coral to the tank 1 week ago. I fear that may have introduced something.

Thanks. Sadly he has died

Seemed fine 24 hrs ago ate and was active as normal. But didn’t eat this morning and was hiding all day, breathing heavy.

Nothing is super obvious in the pictures, but with 2 clowns in a 13.5 my guess would be aggression from the other clown. They have a tendency to turn on each other, especially in small tanks.
You don’t always notice the damage, and there may not even be any, for it to be bad enough for the impacted fish to die.

Thanks, that’s what the lfs thought as well.

The tank has been peaceful overall, but anything could have happened overnight

While coral introduction is Not ruled out, it would affect all fish.
Loss of color, heavy breathing, loss of appetite, lethargic behavior may point to brooklynella

Ok thanks.

So what do I do now, just wait? Given how fast this happened (24hrs) - I need to be better prepared.

How long till I can relax and my remaining two fish are in the clear from whatever this was

Just watch the remaining fish closely for the next few weeks in case the issue was contagious; rapid breathing, lowered food intake, changes in swimming motion.

Sis weeks is generally a comfortable period to assure most protozoans and other diseases have died off without a host fish
