I was brushing off an acan that is like 50% dead and I didn’t know why it was dying. All 4 other acans look fine. While brushing it off I noticed something shot out of it. Then landed on my rock. It was a worm of some sort so I used a turkey baster to suck it up and put it in one of my test tubes. Does anyone know what it is? Do you think it’s the cause of my acan dying? It swims crazy fast.
Thanks for your help,
Wilson.

Here’s an image taken with a microscope. Sorry there’s no unit of measurement

Personally I think it looks much more like an amphipod than an isopod.

I thought this post was going to help me. But it looks like I have the same problem different critter. Have a problem identifying but it’s all good it was dead hanging out of the acan and it has been in quarantine since I got it.

I am having the same issue with my acans. They have always died on me and I never realized why until I just purchased a new one and now same thing is happening to it. I saw the worm coming out mouth of acan, and the acan was receding. Have you figured out what this critter is and how to handle it? I dipped the coral in iodine and the acan is looking better today but from past experience my other ones eventually died off. any help with this would be great

I haven’t Identified the type of worm yet but to save my account colony I had to chop it up and get rid of the pieces that had the worms in it since nothing I dipped it in killed them.
