So I purchased a Vivid 1/2” RFG for my Fluval EVO 13.5, I’ve seen lots of videos on it and it’s flow, only my flow looks nothing like the ones i’ve seen and i’m just wondering if i’ve set it up correctly. I have an Eheim CompactON 1000 on the lowest setting as i’ve been told to use, should I turn this up to improve the flow?

Random flow generators need to have the correct flow running through them to work. When they work they are awesome though. I had two 3/8" 3d printed RFG on my fluval flex 9g with an upgraded pump right around 290gph. They worked great, i loved the flow in the tank. When i upgraded the tank to a DIY AIO 20 long i tired a single 1/2" RFG on the same pump. No random flow like i had before. More like a standard nozzel. I didnt want to run 3/8" locline again, so i just ditched it and went with dual fan nozzels.

it is from their website. Minimum flow is 120-150 GPH.

How much flow does the RFG need?
The RFG nozzle will create a random flow pattern at just about any flow rate, but because of the way it works it does defuse the flow to some extent. Becuase of this, we have our minimum flow rate recommendations and what we call our “optimal” flow rates for the 1/2in, 3/4in and 1in RFG Nozzles.
Our optimal recommendations produce what we feel is a good balance between the total GPH supplied to the nozzle and intensity and rate at which the nozzle changes the stream direction. The RFG Nozzle will handle far more flow than than the “Optimal” recommendations, so we encourage you to experiment and test the limits of the RFG Nozzles.

Each version has a optimal amount of flow to make them work, your's according to their website is 300-450 gallons per hour. Your pump is rated at Max 264gph at 0 head pressure. I say turn your pump up to it's max or get a stronger pump.
