Chris, how is your dosing going?

I started last Monday at 1/2ml in my system. Have ramped up to 1 1/2 over the past week and a half and will continue to increase by 1/2 ml weekly.

In trying to coerce my clowns to breed I was feeding way too heavily, leading to hair algae outbreak. Now that I've started to combat the HA/nutrients with vodka, my clowns have stopped breeding (I've read anectodal evidence that this may be a side effect of dosing vodka... funny how with us humans the opposite is true). Talk about a never ending cycle.

Vodka dosing has been postponed because of the tank upgrade. I am trying to let the corals settle in and color back up. I want o get some accurate results. :) i did stop by the liquor store and pick up a bottle of Belve though.

Not yet. I am really trying to let the tank settle in before I start dosing. I wan things as stable as possible. Plus i bleach a bunch of corals with these new Icecap ballasts. So I wan them to come back around as well.

Stopped at my LFS today and they got the full line up to test and in that kit was a bottle of carbon.....the label stated it was an alternative to the vodka method.

Started dosing vodka today. Total system volume is about 480l so I dosed .5ml this morning.

At First I was using Grey Goose & dosing 6 ml per day, I have since switched to 151 and have cut my dosing down to 3 ml per day.

I don't think your using enough- but
Don't overdo it- Take it slow at first
Your corals will "lighten" up a bit- This is normal..
Your skimmer will go crazy

I'm up to 1ml today!

No noticeable difference in the corals.

I started out dosing vodka around 5 months ago in a similar ratios to you. I started with one ml in a 1200l system for one two weeks, 2 ml for two more weeks, 3 ml for two more, and then would do between 3.5 and 4. At this point I started to combo with Vitamin C, also a carbon source look for the calcium ascorbate, dropped the vodka back to 1.5ml and started with 2 ppm of VC. This I maintained for two weeks and then doubled up on the VC. Two weeks later went to 2.5ml of vodka. After around 3 weeks I started mixing up my carbon source and went with the Vodka, vinegar, sugar combo and still am dosing with the VC two times a day. I like this combo a little better then just vodka and have had to cut it back to 2.5ml a day. My test kits are cheap so they will not record the levels needed for proper data keeping so I rely alot on plain old looking around and paying attention. A must is carbon dosing. Are you going to use AA after awhile? I need to start myself. I also find it hard to keep the skimmer regular. It always peeks for a few hours after dosing. I didn't see much difference for about 1.5 months in color.

Well. I'm in and out of town in the next month or so. I've decided that I am not going to dose vodka. I can't commit to dosing daily. My schedule is too crazy. I'm thinking about trying the prodibio since it is weekly and bi-weekly.

Didn't know you were currently C-Dosing.

Depending on your travel C-dosing does not need to be done daily (look at prodibio) Another option would be a carbon source added to RO/DI water for top off... You must be careful of bacteria build up prior to dosing, but I've read of a few doing this without any problems.

If you continue with any carbon sources, I would suggest looking into mixed C sources and Bacterial Additions.

how important is adding bacterial additions when dosing? I have two tanks on at night, two in the day, and have thought this would keep the bacteria going without haveing to add culture.. maybe I should start boosting it up a little.

I tried vodka awhile ago and I had great results. Color improvement was minimal. I'm in my 6th week of Prodibio and I am very happy with the results. Here are some pics.

BTW. I completely mis-calculated. I'm actually in my 4th week of prodibio now. Not sure how I added up 6 weeks in my last post. Maybe because I used 6 vials I thought 6 weeks? Anyway... Here are some more updated shots.
