There's a catch to carbon dosing as others have noted. There has to be the nitrates available for the bacteria to process the phosphates. The bacteria are largely inefficient at consuming phosphates without nitrate present

Do you have to watch your ph or any other parameters while carbon dosing?

Don't foget, the reduction is not only by bacteria but skimming. In a sense the cardbon helps bond nitrates to the bacteria for extraction. There are risks though. Test your phosphates. If po4 is 0.07 or higher, use GFO. Otherwise phosphate reduction from proper husbandry and calcium phosphate precipitation can help reduce numbers.

Yes. Alkalinity also. Carbon dosing reduces O2. Its recommend you have a skimmer for carbon dosing.

Pro-biotic tanks have a lower pH at times because the bacteria population is consuming O2 and respiring CO2. I personally don't care too much about pH, mine fluctuates between 7.98 in the mornings when the lights come on and tops out close to 8.3-8.4 at the end of the daytime light cycle. I track my alkalinity daily and make adjustments to my daily dosing accordingly. (I do have a fresh air line from outside to my skimmer though)
