Watchman Goby?? Sand depth ?

Inch should be fine, just make sure your rocks are situated on the glass of your tank. Goby's love to dig could cause some shifting.

Also get one of the smaller shrimp to go with it, it’s the shrimp that does the digging.

Oh cool... yes my rock went in first and then the sand... just worried I didn’t have enough sand for him/her to dig in or hide if needed

I’ve got a big butt cleaner shrimp in my 56 gal tank... I have no idea how much more he is going to grow but seams like every other month it molts.

I don’t think a goby with pair with a cleaner? Think you need a pistol or the like.

My cleaner would probably carry it around the rocks... I have seen my fish visit for cleaning though... it’s usually after the lights go out...cool to watch the fish swim around the shrimp as it does it’s thing.
I’ll have to look into a shrimp... I had a peppermint shrimp on my crew in the beginning and he cleaned them dam pests right off my rocks...

I would think the goby would be happier if you got a shrimp it can pair with, they like to hide in borrows that the shrimp digs, if I were you I would look into a suitable shrimp. You were asking about sand so I thought that was what you were aiming to do, as the goby won’t dig the borrows itself.
