My battle with high nutrients is starting to come to and end!! On 11/13 my phosphates were around .4ppm and nitrates around 28ppm … this was down from 50+ ppm nitrates. And over 1.5ppm phosphates in July. I tested yesterday and they read .11ppm phosphates and 14.7 ppm nitrates. Finally!! Finally very similar to my other systems. Now I’m working on correcting my flow and checking my lighting to ensure par levels. Corals have struggled in this tank downstairs while I have a thriving torch and chalice tank upstairs in my house. Now that the phosphate/nitrate and alkalinity are all within the same range I think these could be my issues. Along with hopefully selling my coral beauty an sunburst butterfly (I think they pick at my zoas). This is a 90 gal tank with a total of 105-110 gal system with my sump. Beyond excited to be able to fill it with beautiful corals.
All of the euphyllia in the second tank sadly passed. Looking to bring it back with some torches from my smaller tank once i find the water/flow/lighting suitable. Getting an icp test for Christmas and plan on renting the par meter online. Any suggestions would be great! BRS is currently unavailable as I’ve been recommended and have looked to order.
