Planning out a new tank and want to get it pre-drilled for an overflow from glass-holes.

The tank is going to be rimless. Question is, where should the water level be in the tank? I was told the water level would be about 1/2-3/4 of the way up the teeth of the overflow which puts it just over 1/2" from the top of the tank if the top of the overflow is flush with the top of the tank.

Any advice would be appreciated.

If you will want to run a wavbox that is too high :(

I just took my fragtank from 1/4" to 3/4" and it is still close to the top but not scary anymore :D

If the box is going to be acrylic have the teeth setup so they can be raised and lowered so you can fine tune water height in the tank. you can use plastice thumbscrews and nuts to lock it in place, I'll post a paint drawing in a bit.

Here it is:

Let me know if you have any questions.

My overflow had no teeth in the fragtank and the water level ran 1/4" over the top of it, teeth will raise the water level of in the tank in comparison from the top of the overflow to the top of the water.

The old overflow height in my overflow was 7.5" and the tank was 8" tall. the bottom of the tank to the bottom of the corner braces was 7.75" the water sat right up again the bottom of the braces.

I had a new piece cut and it is 7" now I have 3/4" from the top of the tank 1/2" under the corner braces.

check out my "struggle" with water height:
