What type of barrels do you use to store water. I went and got a plastic garbage can and stored my RO water in it. I just took a TDS reading from the barrel and it’s astronomical..... the plastic must be leeching into the water... this is really bad I’ve been using this barrel for top off for a week !!!!!!!!!

I grabbed this 12 gallon container from tractor supply this weekend. It's for bird seed/dog food/etc. As soon as I read this ran right down to the basement to shove the TDS meter in there. Crisis averted, its reading zero =)

I've always used a grey or red rubbermaid trash can and haven't ever had any issue. What's the TDS of the water you're putting in? That's a lot of leaching. Obviously you have a TDS meter. I don't want to be a jerk but are you testing the pure RODI water after rinsing out all of the saltwater?

Polypropylene for portable water is best.

Yours is probably polypropylene. A good fitting lid helps a ton!

I am glad that you were able to find a food grade container that works and got your TDS to zero!!! Most containers at Tractor Supply are food grade because of their focus on animals, whereas you have to pay more attention at home improvement stores.

Personally I use both a Rubbermaid Brute 44g on casters (with a pump and tubing) and several square blue water jugs depending on the location and portability that I need.

I actually have one container for freshwater and another for salt mixing. I keep them separate. Yes RODI water is good going into it. It’s been in the barrel for about 2 weeks a little less

I just hope I didn’t do any damage to my fish . The idea of plastic in the water hurts MY gills and I don’t even have any....
They seem to be unphased so far. Hungry little pigs

They had a larger size as well. Maybe 20g. Cant remember. I think that one was $28
Hopefully they have them here at TS in my town. I’ll definitely be getting a few of those. I should of thought of Tracor Supply before any other store. It almost makes too much sense lol
