Waterbox 10g Plumbing

Wanted to bump this since I am looking all over the place for a stronger pump, so that I can also run a RFG on my new water box 10 gal nano cube. I am curious if vivid was able to find a stronger pump that fits. I would love to run 2 1/2” RFG’s and eliminate the need for a wave maker!

for the Waterbox 10 (and 20 for that matter) there are very few pump options. the chamber is just too small.

With that said, you can run a SICCE Nano or Siccie 0.5 and run our Single 1/4in RFG Kit

If ou want to split it - then you can create a dual 1/4in RFG setup. I would suggest a pump capable of at least 180 to 200 GPH or more) in this situation., I think the SICC 0.5 would fit that bill, but it;s possible with some slight modification to the pump you can fit a 1..0 in there as well.

Dual 1/4in RFGs. for the small 10-gallon the dual 1/4in RFG when slightly over driven can do really well in that size tank.

To do a dual 1/4in Setup, you'll nee to piece it together - here is the list of parts you'll need

16.5mm to 1/2in Adapter

1/2in to 1/4in Loc-line Y Reducer

1/4in Loc-line
You'll need at least one stick - you can split to to use 3 segments on each side of the Y

1/4in Random Flow Generator® Nozzles
You'll need two of these

Thank you so much for all your help! Just a few more questions

When you say slight modification to the pump, what exactly do you mean?

I also contacted waterbox and they suggested I don't raise the GPH on the return pump as this can cause too much water to be pumped into the DT and therefore running the pump chamber low on water. I've seen I can also modify the drain to take more water in order to avoid this, but is it necessary?

E- I am asking because I am in between just upgrading to the Sicce Nano and using 1 1/4' RFG as you suggested, or taking the more complex route of the 2x 1/4 RFGs and modifying the 1.0 Sicce depending on how much it would take to get this to work properly. I would like to maximize the flow as I plan to go wave maker-less!!

Because the pump chamber is so small, you "may" have to remove and run it without the suction screen to get it to fit. I've also seen where people will shave the front of a pump slightly to gain just a few more millimetres to get the pump to fit.

I love the all-glass construction of the waterbox, but it does make it tough to modify. I wish the back chamber was just a 1/2in larger in all directions - it would open it up to many more pump options.

The single 1/4in is a great option - especially with the nano - because it slightly over drives the 1/4in RFG and produces a surprising amount of movement throughout the tank. in fact that's how we run the Waterbox 10 cube in the front lobby of our office

This is the Waterbox 10 we maintain here at the office. All flow in the tank is created with a single 1/4in RFG and a SICCE nano. It been up and running for just about a year

Don't mind the Aphasia - it s mixed reef with Nems tank :p LOL

This is what the 1/4in Waterbox Flow Kit looks like installed with the single 1/4in RFG
