i vote skimmer... ;) :)
Can I ask why you prefer the skimmer? Tried and true? Algae reactors not effective?
My nitrate goal for the new tank is 10ppm for the Acropora. The right small skimmer will fit in the AIO compartment but the reactor would have to be positioned externally.

Get those radions yet?

hihi! Just taking a bit of a break from the forum:)

I don’t have the lights yet but I have finally decided that I’m going with an Aquatic life 4 bulb T5 hybrid fixture with 2 of the Radions to start. I may have to get a third one but I’ll see how the par and coverage is with 2 first.
Almost finished the room Reno so the tank will be wet soon and the party will begin in earnest!!
:):)
Hope everyone is doing well!

I hope so! Lol
My goal is to have 400 par at the top and 150 on the sandbed. My theory is this will allow me to keep Acropora from top to bottom. The T5s will take care of the main coverage with the leds taking care of the spectrum I like. That’s the plan anyway. It will take awhile to get that dialed in but I’ll get there!

More light, more color morph chances?
We shall see what happens. Not all Acro need super high light and certain tortuosa, like my electric Miyagi, seem to retain the green and purple in lower light while they lose most of the green if they’re in really high light. I still have a lot to learn about this though:)

Curious if you know the species on this one?

Perhaps light/flow recommendations. So far it is sprouting new nubs. Only had it 2 weeks.
stuff at the bottom is a clove sp.

I don’t know what it is but that’s a beauty! Looks nice and happy too!
As a very general rule I’m going by this— the fuzzier it is (like Millepora) the more flow they like. Random indirect flow seems to be best as well. As Abe says he likes to see the polyps moving 90-100% of the time. He gets some really great back and forth movement as well.
I would put that one around 250 par and see how it goes.
I love the growth pattern on it !
