The tunze macro algae reactor is excellent, I've harvested twice in a month, and pulled out probably a cat sized amount each time lol

I think I started with a tennis ball size? It blew up and filled the reactor in 2-3 weeks. I am dosing some Chaetogro too though just to prevent it from melting.

Random question. What's the actual size of the display not including sump area. Because of their website it says 19.7 deep.

The display area is about 37cm (14.5 inches) deep. Its quite narrow and a functional acquascaping requires some creativity but thats also fun to do that way.
Personally I would suggest to use some branch rocks instead of the classic flat ones. It allows for a better flow… especially in the back part of the tank, which then helps to collect all the detritus in the front part pf the tank :)
