I always check it. I take a Cooler and cardboard box from a previous purchase and put it in my checked bag.

I flew from Atlanta Ga to NC with frag in a specimen collection cup with a screw top lid. No issues at all. Just an FYI

I don't see why you would not be able to transport. You aren't crossing any boarders and if it was bought in the US, there is no reason why you wouldn't be allowed as long as the liquids meet the requirements.
