Weird ecotech scenario

In my main display I have 3 mp40’s. In my fish room, I have my sump with 2 return pumps (L2 and M2), and also in the fish room my RODI station that is powered my an S2.

Here’s the weird thing…

Whenever I power off the mp40s @ the main display and the power them back on, my S2 return pump in the next room is turning on.

Any idea how this is happening?

I might check with Echotech - also may be helpful to post a picture of your setup/plumbing. Do you have a setting whereby if the water level changes some where your pump will come on? Are you also using an aquarium controller - or the one that comes with the pump?

I do have Neptune apex, but not using it for any pump control. For that I use mobius. the thing is, is that the return pump that is coming on is from manually using the controller that’s attached to the mp40.

But that brings up a good point. Since I don’t use this return pump,for anything except transferring and mixing rodi and salt water, I could remove it from mobius and that likely would solve my problem.

Likely mobius is someone seeing the return pump as a child of the mp40 that im powering on and off at my display.

I will also shoot ecotech an email for their input.

if the s2 is attached to the mp40, id think you control one , you control both. makes sense to me. dont see any issues lol

They are not connected to one another. They are in two separate rooms, but in mobius all of them are defined to my devices list, but in my mobius dashboard, I deleted the s2 but it still powers on when I cycle the mp40.

I did notice one of my 3 mp40s was set as a child. Perhaps I mistakenly linked it with the l2, idk. Im 7nable to determine which Device is the parent.

I haven’t figured it out but will be reaching out to ecotech as this doesn’t seem right.

I did remove the rodi s2 from the mobius app. 1st time i powered off and on a mp40, the rodi s2 powered on. So I then powered off the rodi/S2 and also powered off my m2 return pumps, then cycled a mp40. The rodi/s2 remianed off, but my m2 return pump powered on.

I also powered off all 3 mp40s and took turns powering each of them on from all being off. Every time I powered one device on, all devices came on. So this may be by design.but seems flawed or there should be a way to bypass this from happening.

At the very least, powering up a wave pump should NOT power on the return pumps.

Ok… mobius app had a chat feature and I was able to get ecotech support on very quickly. So big bonus and plus 1 for that.

Negative comes from what I suspected. This is by design. If I want to not have everything come on when I power on 1 device, I have to create “scenes” or put things into different “tanks” in the mobius app. So that is what I ended up doing, creating a tank for my power heads, and 1 for my return pumps.

They said they would convey my concerns to engineering, but we all know that was likely a brush off and probably won’t amount to much.
