Can anyone tell me what is happening here? It has happened pretty fast. My first thought was that it was budding, but I’ve grown out frogspawn before and it never looked like this.

Def not budding...anyone picking at it?

They generally split from the head first ans then down the trunk...leaning toward an injury of some sort. With good water quality he should bounce back fine.
