Hello everyone, I am not totally new, however, I am trying to get more involved as I have some build ideas that I think can benefit the community. I am a Mechatronic engineer by education and have been in the reefing hobby for around 3 years. I currently have two reef tanks (125gal, 40g). My 125 is mostly softies and Lps, I am working towards adding in some sps now that my understanding of coral biology is improving. My 40g is softies and bubble tip anemones. I have plans to build a fully customized tank from scratch in the future. I have been extremely busy building my wedding venue from the ground up and unfortunately my tanks have suffered a bit from neglect. Its that suffering that has made me want to apply my knowledge of automation and create some gear that is specifically suited to improve the husbandry of my tanks without being exorbitantly expensive. I believe that if I can make some testing and dosing easier and more successful we can minimize potential coral deaths in our tanks. I plan on starting with a Alk tester that will test and monitor Alk in the tank then calculate the dosage of 2 part (in my case) needed. I know this has been done before, but it has not been done on a level that makes it accessible to those on more of a budget. If anyone has any ideas please reach out as I would love to discuss them.

Welcome - I’ve always thought the same. Can’t understand why there’s isn’t a cheaper computerised mechanism to auto dose everything at the stage…
I’m a uni student still so would definitely love to see your DIY stuff
