I really like garden eels and people think they are SO hard and all I know is that they need lots of sand on the bottom and hats all people talk about with them. So what is so hard about them? I’m new to saltwater and want to have them, a pair of clowns and a fire goby or two. Are these comparable? Would 3-4 Garden eels be fine in a 50 gallon tank?

They need a really deep sand bed and spot fed with non aggressive fish as tank mates.

They are timid, so back down into the sand when big and active fish come near. They do not leavve the sand to get food, so food has to make it to them without being eaten by tankmates. While very peaceful, thwy do like about 12" of space between each other. They require sand, but not as much as people think as they can bend their bodies perpendicularly, so only need a few inches

3-4 in a 50g might be a little much, 1-2 should be fine.
