Hey guys,

First ever marine reef tank, this reef is about a month old and i can’t find answers anywhere as to what these are on my torch coral’s skeleton/i probably dont even know how to phrase my google search lol (First pic).

Second question i have is what are these things that just popped up out of some dry rock i picked up from my lfs? Spiny and bicolored lines thing in the second pic.

Thanks guys!

Are you referring to the bubble-like structures at the base of the torch? Or the brownish stuff above that and to the left?

I can't tell what the first pic is either, but - with the consistent, thick stripes on it - I'm inclined to think the second pic may be a brittle star arm.

Either way, brittle star or bristle worm, they should be harmless/beneficial.

I see the banding now. I definitely think you're correct.

Saw the rest of its body for the first time can confirm it is a brittle star. Cool looking hitchhiker :D
As for the goop on my torch haven’t tried actually brushing it off :p
