I want to see/hear more! My pH is decent. Im just impatient and want more growth. I wasn’t monitoring pH yet when I did my ATO with Kalk trial. But this is with AFR only.

He designed a controller and 6ft tall chamber with a wc thingy to adjust salinity etc.. he can pretty much flat his ph at any level he wants! It’s crazy! Dudes a genius at that stuff!

I just picture you swiggin a bottle of moonshine and holding a bottle of flatworm exit and goin

"I'm just gonna send it bud *burp*"
Ive had white lightning once! Never again! I’ll stick to my diet beer and flat worm stop! Haha

Good luck with that. Why the hell would I waste my time? You either want a nice tank or you don't. Do your own homework.
Huh… didn’t know I couldn’t have a nice tank unless I used the shine.. I mean I think my tank looks pretty good considering I don’t use it nor do I icp test. I really wanna know how it’s gonna better my tank if I used it! 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Haha, every new trend has fanboys that say it's the only way. I've seen a lot of different ways to achieve an amazing tank over the last 20 years.

I mean maybe! I’ve never done a icp so I couldn’t tell ya the level of any trace in my tank.. I just wing it! lol

For all you shiners in here I have a question.. what differences have you seen in your tank? Is it growth or colors or?!?!?

I’ve been on the shine for 3 or 4 years. It’s good for colors, but I don’t notice a huge difference.

Moonshiners to me is just a way around water changes and a way to keep close tabs on water conditions.

I’m not sure it’s much better than doing water changes and dosing tropic marine A and K, but it’s less work on a big tank.

PM me your address and I'll send you a spare ATI that I have sitting around. If you are curious ;)

On that note here is my issue with additive based solutions. What is the source of record that they are using for calculations of their dosing recommendations? Is it a single source? Multiple sources? Oceanic? Single location? Multiple locations? One and done or periodically assessed and updated?

Just because I could I downloaded the Moonshine handbook, uploaded their Excel ICP template, and calculated a ICP result set that I sampled December 16, 2024 from my Dive trip in Fiji. Water sample was during my safety stop ranging between 20 and 15 feet.

Note: see above that I said "additive" solutions and not focusing on any specific named method. I used the Moonshine Excel templet because they have something in place to help the hobbyist. Zeovit, DSR, Triton, others may have something similar but I didn't look nor am I trying to compare.

Awesome! Good to know.. I mean that’s how I feel about it myself but most “not all shiners” are very defensive! It’s shine or you suck! 🤣

It's an investment on the chems and tests. I'd do it for the practical reason that I hate doing water changes. But I haven't hit that pain point yet.

I am lazy! I think I’ve said it here 5 times over the last few pages haha! I don’t like chores so I built me a water change station “I do love to build stuff it’s what I do!” So I made it as painless as possible to change water and it’s just that! I can change 100gallons of water in 15min with my setup and all I have to do is pull a hose into the house off a reel to my tank! My effort 5min if that, to do it besides mixing salt which is only a couple minutes.
