Im about to yank mine out and get rid of it, Ill keep a few pices but I have a basketball siz piece that's taking up allot of real estate. That and big german blue digi and a tri-val
Will give me close to another two square feet in the tank.

Current dosing for my waterbox 220.6 is:

BRS Two-Part (240ml each part / daily)
BRS KW (4800ml / daily) dosed through avast stirrer. - I've noticed using the BRS KW seems to keep my mag levels up
NoPox - (3ml / daily) for Nitrate/PO4 control - (have to run GFO as well)
Moonshine Method - While I notice great colors, I've been considering moving over to tropic marine A and K lately. Mainly for less dosing maintenance and ease of automation as sometimes I leave the take for days/weeks at a time.

Let us know how the A&K works compared to the shine I’m curious!

I can tell you how it works, it dont lol Just teasing not sure if its helped or not but when I got back form vacation I had ton of growth and my corals looked amazing. Found out the kid was double dosing one of them and my stuff was way out of whack. I mean they were all pegged in the red on the ICP test. Trying to get it down back to normal now.

good to know! how long have you been dosing A/K? I was just about to order it and I'll put it on a doser. Much easier than trying to add moonshine to dosers which is a major PITA.

No water change, Balling three part + TM A & K elements, Elimi NP, Amino acids and weekly Reef Actif. Wow, sounds like a TM add…. I use Fauna Marin Salt. Occasionally I add a teaspoon of kalkwasser/ rodi slurry strait into the sump. Do not bother to do ICP but check PO4, NO3, KH Ca Mg and K ( my tank consumes 30-50 ppm K / month
Is there a benefit to dose A and K. Aren't those same elements in AFR. I just use All for reef to dose A and K and the calcium and alkalinity components

Not sure where you are getting it from but petco of all places has pretty good deals on tropic marin stuff and you get a discount if you do the auto renew.

I use AFR, a doser with kalk that replaced top off, auto water change, reef actif and soda ash in water change water, iodide sparingly manually, tropic marine bacto balance and manually do magnesium with a few squirts a week. 2 years now. Some live some die. I've had ph swings, alk swings, pests and other problems. Most sps do good.

Only if you’re using something else with afr like myself I use kalk to do about 60% of the heavy lifting and afr for the rest.. so yeah I’m losing the elements with kalk.. I still don’t dose A&K cause I don’t test haha!

Looking good!

Idk I figure between the water and all for reef trace gets replenished

now you have me wondering. I'd be curious if you could use this same method without the water changes and have equal success? curious what KW you're using as I see you're manually adding magnesium? I notice that my BRS KW seems to keep the mag up. I figured this out when I stopped doing KW for a while and all of a sudden I had to start dosing Mag because it tanked. Put the KW back online and it's been stable since.

Also, what size tank do you have an how much of AFR are you using? I'd assume KW is doing most of the work with the AFR for adjustments?

Yes kalk is just brs kalk, no mag. I'm thinking about switching to one with mag so I don't have to dose any mag . I like to have more magnesium because of the euphyllia in my tank. I dose 100 ml a day of AFR. I have 140 gallons total. There are probably better methods like moonshiners, but im trying to keep it simple based on simple principles that I can maintain for awhile. Carbon dosing helps control algae nutrients feeds coral. Heavy fish stock plus heavy feeding and export helps too. I run carbon to prevent pollution. Heavy lighting with good flow and nutrients equals color and polyp extension. Nutrients too high low polyp extension. Carbon dosing keeps it at manageable level. Water change helps remove things filters can't and adds trace. It's just good overall and is the basis for stability. Kalk supplies my alk and helps ph, AFR is a supplement on top. I'm not trying to ICP test every month and adjust everything manually. My philosophy is do what I want to maintain and the rest will sort itself out. What lives, lives, what dies, dies. I also run CO2 scrubber and UV to help keep fish healthy and reduce algae. I have no problem with algae but I was before carbon dosing.
